3PL (Third Party Logistics)
The term 3PL or Third Party Logistics means different things to different people. There is, of course, a definition for 3PL but, particularly when additional services or products are included, it can be quite a different animal.
This is how Wikipedia defines 3PL:
“A third-party logistics provider is a company that provides the service to its customers of outsourced logistics services for all, or part of their supply chain management needs.
3PL providers ‘typically’ specialise in integrated operations, warehousing and transportation services that can be scaled and customised to a customer’s needs. How they’re tailored will be based on market conditions and the demands and delivery service requirements for their products and materials.
Often, these services go beyond logistics and include services related to the production of goods. The provider is generally then known as a supply chain management service provider (SCMSP) or third-party supply chain management provider (3PSCM).”
There are numerous descriptions and definitions but the final paragraph above most closely describes the services offered by Manor Packaging.
Stock and Serve and 3PL is a very adaptable resource which can simplify the ‘drip feeding’ of packaging to your packing or productions lines or even direct to store at a specified rate.
